View from Waiheke Harbour - on the island we had our last tandem adventure.

The course at the NZ Kayak School was quite an epic.....Take two complete novices and try to turn them into confident Grade 2 Rapids paddlers in just 4 days.....

Phil was a complete natural - rolling after pool session one and perfecting it throughout the sessions. I on the otherhand was a little less natural, and I'm still finding my way to allow myself to turn upside down in the first place!

We completely LOVED the chance to explore 'off road' NZ in our kayaks - we saw some incredible gorges and valleys and we were really spoilt by gorgeous sunshine as we attacked the river.

Phil managed a few 'commando' rolls - by this we mean, he flipped a few times in pretty bumpy water AND managed to right himself without assistance...very impressive. Meanwhile I managed to become a pretty sleak paddler who did not need to right herself as there was NO CHANCE I was going to flip!

Here are some pics of the epic!
